Local organisations are invited to apply for funding for arts projects at festivals or a significant community celebration in Barker.

Festivals Australia funds high-quality arts projects including parades, performances, workshops and installations that engage audiences in regional and remote Australia.

Member for Barker Tony Pasin said festivals and celebrations were an important part of the unique identity of so many regions in Barker.

“Through Festivals Australia funding, local artists, art workers and organisations have the opportunity to participate in and deliver projects that enrich much loved local events with arts and cultural experiences that help us celebrate and reflect on who we are,” Mr Pasin said.

“Encouraging participation in arts and culture through festivals and events is really important for rural and regional communities.”

“This fund is all about providing access to, and participation in the arts by and for people living outside metropolitan cities.”

“Festivals are a unique and family friendly opportunity for communities to come together to participate in arts and cultural activities that reflect local experiences and draw on local talent.”

“I’m encouraging artists and community groups across Barker to apply to the fund for local event projects that will bring economic, social and cultural benefits to local communities.” Mr Pasin said.

Applications close on Friday 18 October at 5pm.
