Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP is encouraging regional university and VET providers in Barker to apply for the Morrison Government’s new Destination Australia program.

The Morrison Government is offering $15,000 scholarships to over 4,000 students who study in regional areas through the new $94 million program. The scholarships will be available to domestic and international students and will be accessible through regional universities and VET providers.

Mr Pasin urged local higher education and VET providers to apply for funding so they can offer Destination Australia scholarships through their institution.

“A vibrant student community will invigorate our local economy by supporting full-time jobs and business opportunities as well as encouraging more tourism,” Mr Pasin said.

“Barker has a lot to offer students and we also have a lot to gain.”

Higher education and VET providers from regional Australia are encouraged to check their eligibility and to apply via GrantsHub on the online platform.

Funding will be finalised later this year, allowing providers to offer scholarships for study commencing semester one 2020.

Successful providers will also be entitled to additional funding to allocate, administer and promote the scholarships to prospective international and domestic students.
