Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has welcomed $15,000 funding for the Mount Gambier Fringe project, Experience Fringe.

Experience Fridge is an interactive community event involving three regional artists across three different art forms, engaging audiences in large scale arts experiences.

Mr Pasin said this is one of 20 regional arts projects across the country sharing in more than $550,000 in Federal Government funding in the latest round of the Festivals Australia program.

“Festivals reflect the shared culture and experience of a community, and art is an important component of that. The Mount Gambier Fringe is not only a brilliant event for the local community but is also a drawcard for visitors bringing with them economic benefits for the Limestone Coast tourism industry,” said Mr Pasin.

“Support provided by the Australian Government through programs such as Festivals Australia recognises the integral role of arts activities at regional festivals and provides the opportunity for regional artists to collaborate across the sector. It’s great for the sector and great for the community.”

Festivals Australia provides approximately $1.2 million (GST exclusive) each financial year through two competitive funding rounds to support arts projects at festivals in regional Australia.
