The Morrison government will invest $40,000 in upgrading and improving the sporting facilities at the Millicent Football and Netball.
The investment is part of the Community Sport Infrastructure Grant program that is upgrading local facilities across Australia that will help drive increased participation in sports and physical activity.
“The Morrison Government is supporting local grassroots sports because we recognise the wider health, social and community benefits that come from greater activity and participating in sport,” Member for Barker Tony Pasin said.
“It is a key priority of our government to promote the social and health benefits of physical activity and sport and our investment to upgrade facilities and infrastructure will provide a real encouragement for those local residents not currently active.”
“Our Government’s investment in local sporting facilities will go towards upgrades that improve the amenity and functionality like new toilets, upgraded lighting and installing irrigation.”
For the Millicent Football and Netball Club this involves installing air-conditioning and improving their office space.
“Strong economic management means Governments can invest record funding into infrastructure, health and education without having to increase taxes. If we weren’t in the economic position we are thanks to Liberal Governments plan to grow the economy, funding in this project may not have been possible,” Mr Pasin said.
