This year sees the third annual Big Aussie BBQ hosted by Tony Pasin MP with the help of the Limestone Coast Prostate Cancer Support Group and this year has again seen just over $1000 raised for the cause.

“These funds will go towards the fantastic work that the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia do in reducing the impact of prostate cancer on Australian men and their families.

“I am thrilled with the level of support for this important initiative which not only raised important funds but also awareness of the disease and the need for men to undergo appropriate health checks.

“A huge thank you must go to Malcolm Porter, Ian Minge, Paul Arnold, Lea Clarke, Dave Platt, Graham Hinze and Bruce and Joan McGregor, members of the Limestone Coast Prostate Cancer Support Group who assisted with the barbeque, and more importantly were on hand to provide support and information to members of our community.

“I also extend my thanks to Baxter Hire, Baker’s Delight and Shelton’s Butcher for their generous in kind donations, without which this event would not have been the success it was.”

James Morrison also paid a visit to show his support which included a short, live Jazz performance to the delight of volunteers and supporters.

Many of Mr Pasin’s Parliamentary colleagues who were unable to attend the BBQ in Mount Gambier sent donations via the funding page on the foundations website.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men, killing over 3,000 fathers, friends and uncles every year.
