Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield, Minister for the Arts and Member for Barker, Tony Pasin MP, have announced funding for this year’s ‘Zest Fest’ through the Festivals Australia March funding round.
“I am pleased to announce that COTA SA has received $44,500 through the Federal Government’s Festivals Australia grant program for the ’60 Moments’ community events held in regional South Australia as part of the annual Zest Fest festival,” Mr Pasin said.
60 Moments celebrates the face of modern ageing in regional South Australia.
A digital photography project culminating in a public, outdoor, projection exhibit, 60 Moments provides older regional South Australians a creative opportunity to express their own identity, their sense of place and uniqueness.
60 Moments will be the regional highlight of ZestFest, South Australia’s annual festival for the over 50s, and will form the centrepiece for ZestFest community celebrations in the regional centres of Mount Gambier, Port Augusta and Renmark.
Minister Fifield said the Turnbull Government has announced more than $470,000 through the Festivals Australia March funding round to support 13 arts and cultural projects across regional and remote Australia.
“The Turnbull Government is committed to ensuring people living in regional and remote areas have the opportunity to participate in and enjoy community festivals and celebrations where they live,” said Minister Fifield.
“Programs such as Festivals Australia support the creation and delivery of high-quality and creative performances and events outside our urban centres, which in turn supports strong and vibrant local communities.”
Through Festivals Australia, the Government provides approximately $1.2 million each financial year over two funding rounds to support arts and cultural activities in regional and remote Australia. Funding is allocated on an open and competitive basis.
