Member for Barker Tony Pasin has commended the Loxton RSL Sub-Branch on receiving Federal Government funding to develop their project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armistice of the First World War.

Mr Pasin said the RSL had received $9,123 under the Armistice Centenary Grants Program to create a feature wall to commemorate the Centenary.

“This project will be a fitting tribute to appropriately acknowledge the end of the war 100 years ago,” Mr Pasin said.

Loxton RSL is one of many successful applicants across the nation receiving funding for community projects to commemorate Australia’s wartime history and the 100th anniversary of the Armistice.

“Commemorating this important date in our history is a true testament to the success of the Anzac Centenary 2014–18 and I have no doubt that this project will create a lasting legacy of remembrance,” Mr Pasin said.

“These grants have been designed to deliver local projects and activities to communities like ours to commemorate Australia’s role in the First World War and pay tribute to service men and women and the Armistice Centenary.

Under the Armistice Centenary Grants Program every federal electorate in Australia will receive up to $50,000 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armistice of the First World War.
