BARMERA GOLF CLUB SETS A NEW PATH FORWARD
Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has congratulated the Barmera Golf Club on their successful application to Round 8 of the Stronger Communities Program.
The Barmera Golf Club will receive $9,000 for the restoration of 2400 metres of golf course pathways that link Tee Blocks to the Fairways.
The Barmera Golf Club recently received the Golf SA Club of the Year Award for 2022.
Mr Pasin said he was pleased that the award-winning Golf Club could take advantage of the highly successful funding program.
“The former Coalition Government focused heavily on local capacity building by targeting funding to grassroots community and sporting organisations like the Barmera Golf Club, enabling them to improve their facilities because well maintained facilities contribute to stronger clubs which in turn contribute to making even stronger communities,” Mr Pasin said.
Since 2016 the Coalition’s Stronger Communities Program has provided small grants to community organisations and local governments for small capital projects that deliver social benefits for local communities. The Program committed funding to over 15,000 community–based projects across Australia.
“Unfortunately, the Albanese Government has decided not to continue funding for the Stronger Communities Program so whilst it’s fantastic that the Barmera Golf Club was able to take advantage of this Coalition program it’s very sad those opportunities no longer exist,” Mr Pasin said.
