Coalition Government support for regional communities to combat the impacts of drought continues as over $1 million across 30 grants is announced today by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) under its Tackling Tough Times Together initiative.

Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin said the Government was pleased to support the vital work of the Foundation, which includes assisting rural, regional and communities in coping with emergencies and natural disasters.

“This assistance through the Tackling Tough Times Together program helps community groups in drought-affected regional communities to build social cohesion, address disadvantage, support economic renewal and increase social and educational participation,” Mr Pasin said.

The Government was providing a total of $15 million to the Tackling Tough Time Together initiative.

Blanchetown Hall will receive $7,865 funding under the program for air conditioner replacement.

“Across the nation small projects like this are helping drought-affected communities cope with the stress of the drought on families and businesses in rural communities while also contributing to the local economy and infrastructure renewal.

“FRRR’s rolling program of small grants is supporting improvements to community facilities and events that are helping bring people to support one another through times of adversity.

“Projects funded to date have included initiatives like community infrastructure, Parent and Community association activities, support for community festivals and Indigenous social enterprise opportunities.”
