Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin said Round 7 of the Government’s Stronger Communities Program is aimed at funding projects that deliver social and economic benefits and form part of the Coalition Government’s continuing commitment to strengthen local communities across Australia.

“Community sporting organisations are so important to the fabric of regional communities. The Stronger Communities Program is about strengthening those local organisations to ensure they remain vibrant and sustainable into the future.”

“We know this is needed more than ever after the challenges of the last two years, so I am pleased that the Federal Government is continuing to support local organisations and their communities.”

West Gambier Football Club have received a grant of $20,000 under Round 7 of the Government’s Stronger Communities Program to update their BBQ shed, extending the building to accommodate more patrons.

“Sporting groups, like the West Gambier Football Club contribute so much to our local community, making them better places to live, work and raise a family,” said Mr Pasin.

“Our local communities are the heart of Barker and this investment in local projects under the Stronger Communities Program is about invigorating these communities and ensuring their continued success.” Mr Pasin said.

West Gambier Football Club President Shane Giddings said the grant provides the club foundations to continue to grow.

“As a community club the support of our local member and Government is vital for our survival. This grant will be updating our BBQ shed to accommodate more patrons during the winter months.” Mr Giddings said.

“Thanks to Tony and the Government we have the opportunity to start building a bigger and better club.” Mr Giddings said.
