CENTRELINK AND MEDICARE CLAIM DELAYS EXPOSED
Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP says his office has been receiving an unusually high level of calls from constituents seeking assistance with Services Australia claims.
New figures tabled during Senate Estimates this week have shed light on the issue nationally, revealing a range of vital Centrelink and Medicare payments are falling well below the agency’s own timeliness standards.
Mr Pasin said the cost of living crisis, interest rate rises and low commodity prices have all resulted in Australian’s reaching out for support but unfortunately they are not receiving the assistance they need in a timely manner.
“Struggling families need payments processed quickly and without delay,” Mr Pasin said.
“The Albanese Labor Government is failing to combat inflation, forcing Australians into a cost of living crisis and then letting them down when they seek help.
“Processing delays cause unnecessary stress and angst. Whether you are a pensioner, carer, parent or patient this Labor Government has allowed itself to be distracted and have dropped the ball.” Mr Pasin said.
The Coalition is calling for an urgent review into Services Australia’s operations so the government can identify ways to improve this embattled agency’s performance with a clear customer service focus.
