Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has announced the Morrison Government will provide $47,000 for five CCTV cameras and 10 solar bollard lights to improve the safety for visitors and the community at the Naracoorte Swimming Lake.

The funding has been committed under Round 3 of the Coalition’s $30 million Safer Communities Fund.

The Safer Communities Fund delivers on the Coalition’s ongoing commitment to keep Australians safe and secure.

“Only safe communities can be strong and prosperous, and the best way to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour is to prevent it happening,” said Mr Pasin.

The Safer Communities Fund, a 2016 election commitment to support local communities to address crime and anti-social behaviour and to protect organisations that may face risks from racial or religious intolerance.

Round 4 of the program opened for applications this week with a focus on organisations working with children that are vulnerable to harassment or violence and will see an additional $32 million allocated, bringing the total funding committed through the Safer Communities Fund to $101.9 million between 2016-17 and 2020-21.

More than 300 projects will have been delivered so far by the Coalition Government across Australia over the first three rounds of the program to keep Australians safe.

Mr Pasin said that all Australians have a right to feel safe and secure when their communities come together.

“The Coalition will continue to assist local councils and organisations to address crime and anti-social behaviour and make our nation safer,” Mr Pasin said.
