The Morrison Government is focused on delivering affordable, reliable and secure electricity for Australian households and businesses to support jobs and economic growth says Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP.

“Over the last 12 straight months, wholesale prices across the National Electricity Market (NEM) have fallen, and are now at their lowest level in five years,” Mr Pasin said.

“But, as the Prime Minister said there is more work to do.

“That’s why our energy plan includes measures to strengthen our transmission network to help keep prices low for families and businesses, and ensure that when Australians flick the switch, the lights come on.”

The Government has announced it will work with state governments to accelerate three critical projects including Project Energy Connect – a 900km project that will link SA to NSW and will provide SA with access to energy on the East Coast including Snowy 2.0.

“This project will help put downward pressure on prices, and shore up the reliability of our energy grid,” Mr Pasin said.

“This is part of our plan to ensure that South Australian families, business and industry have access to the affordable, reliable energy which has never been more important as our economy recovers from the pandemic,”

“It’s all part of our Government’s JobMaker plan. By delivering affordable, reliable energy we’re support our economy and jobs,” Mr Pasin said.
