The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment and Disaster Recovery Allowance have been activated in the local government area of Kingston in South Australia.

Payments of $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child, as well as income allowance payments are now available to those affected by the fire in Keilira.

Assistance is being provided through the Australia Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) and Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA).

Member for Barker Tony Pasin said the Federal Government was making this assistance available to help those affected get back on their feet.

“The AGDRP is available for people whose homes have been severely damaged or destroyed, who have been seriously injured or who have lost a family member and puts a lump money payment straight in their pocket,” Mr Pasin said.

“The Disaster Recovery Allowance is designed to assist those who have lost their income and need additional support to get through the next few months.”

“I’ve seen firsthand the devastating impact the Keilira fire has had on the community and this is a small way that we can assist those affected,” Mr Pasin said.

Claims will be open from Friday 10 January 2020. For more information or to make a claim visit www.humanservices.gov.au/disaster or call 180 22 66.
