FUTURE DROUGHT FUND: SUPPORTING DROUGHT RESILIENCE IN BARKER

Farmers and interested organisations in Barker are encouraged to apply for a share of $23 million with applications open for the Future Drought Fund’s Drought Resilient Soils and Landscapes Program.

Member for Barker Tony Pasin said the competitive grants process will trial and demonstrate land management practices that support drought resilience.

“The program is looking for projects that will show that existing land management practices being applied in Barker can be effectively applied at scale.”

“We’re looking for projects that provide trials and demonstrations farmers can learn and then apply on their own farms,” Mr Pasin said.

“This is about making farms more resilient to drought, and support farms here in Barker because we know every farm makes a big difference to Australian agriculture.”

“This is an opportunity for partnerships involving farmers and organisations such as the local Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub, farming system groups, Rural Research and Development Corporation, and NRM regional bodies.”

The grants process is open until 11 January 2022. Grants of $500,000 to $1 million (GST exclusive) are available.
