Go Kart Club of SA back on track

Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has congratulated the Go Kart Club of SA on their successful application to Round 8 of the Stronger Communities Program. The organisation will receive $20,000 to build a shed to store and protect key club assets.

Mr Pasin said it was great to support the Club get back on track after a tough few years.

“The impacts of pandemic restrictions are still being felt by many clubs and organisations like the Go Kart Club of SA who battled through a considerable time with limited access to facilities and fewer race meetings offered. It’s fantastic that the Club is getting back on track and can be supported with this Federal Government Grant,” Mr Pasin said.

Mr Pasin said he was pleased that the community group could take advantage of the final round of the highly successful funding program.

“The former Coalition Government focused heavily on local capacity building by targeting funding to grassroots community organisations like the Go Kart Club of SA, enabling them to improve community assets and facilities because well-equipped organisations contribute to stronger communities,” Mr Pasin said.

Go Kart Club SA President Warren Nietz said the support was appreciated by all club members.

“The Go Kart Club of SA is extremely excited about receiving the Stronger Communities Program grant and are now very disappointed that these types of grants that assist local clubs are not continuing. The Go Kart Club would like to thank MP Mr Tony Pasin in supporting the club and assisting with the grant. The funding will help build new infrastructure at the club that will help support our junior and senior driving programs as well as our come n try days.” Mr Nietz said.

Since 2016 the Coalition’s Stronger Communities Program has provided small grants to community organisations and local governments for small capital projects that deliver social benefits for local communities. The Program committed funding to over 15,000 community–based projects across Australia.

“Unfortunately, the Albanese Government has decided not to continue funding for the Stronger Communities Program so whilst it’s fantastic that the Go Kart Club of SA was able to take advantage of this Coalition program it’s very sad those opportunities no longer exist,” Mr Pasin said.
