Tony Pasin, Member for Barker, is encouraging the youth of Barker to enter the ABC Heywire competition.

The ABC Heywire storytelling competition celebrates the stories and ideas of young regional Australians aged 16 to 22 by sharing their story.

Emerging leaders aged between 18 and 25 who are working on social change projects in regional Australia can also apply to be part of the ‘Trailblazers’ program.

Both story competition winners and successful ‘Trailblazers’ will have their story featured on the ABC and participate in the 2018 Heywire Regional Youth Summit held in Canberra in February.

“It is always a pleasure to meet with young and passionate people from Barker in Canberra, and to see them representing the youth of our area in the nation’s capital,” said Mr Pasin.

“The Heywire competition is an excellent opportunity for young regional Australians to share their culture, ideas and experiences with the world.

“Entries for Heywire 2017 are now open, and I would encourage any interested young people in Barker to enter and share their stories,” said Mr Pasin.

Applications for the Trailblazers program close on 17 July.

Entries for the Heywire storytelling competition close 16 September.
