Superfast broadband has arrived in Kalangadoo and Glencoe as the NBN makes services available to homes and businesses. Residents can begin ordering their NBN service from a retail service provider this week.

Member for Barker said residents should take full advantage of the opportunities available in Australia’s new high-speed broadband era.

“The Australian Government’s National Broadband Network will boost productivity and provide a platform for innovation to ensure the economic and social benefits of the internet are available to every Australian,” Mr Pasin said.

“The development of digital technologies has reduced business costs, changed how our children study and learn, and created many more ways to engage socially.”

The NBN’s next generation connectivity is fast and reliable, enabling households and small businesses to be more productive and better connected for years to come.

Homes and business in Kalangadoo and Glencoe will be connected to the NBN using fixed wireless technology. Fixed wireless technology offers wholesale download speeds of up to 50 Mbps, more than twice as fast as ADSL2+ services experienced in metropolitan areas.

“It’s an especially exciting time for residents in Kalangadoo with homes and businesses seeing the NBN switching on and mobile phone connectivity on the way thanks to the Coalition’s Mobile Blackspot Program,” Mr Pasin said.

“Being connected is so vitally important to rural and regional residents and I’m so pleased that under the Coalition Government we can help deliver that for Kalangadoo and Glencoe,” said Mr Pasin.

Mr Pasin said the NBN rollout in Barker was nearly complete thanks to NBN’s simplified network construction and the company’s strong relationship with local contractors.

It typically takes a couple of weeks to connect up to the NBN after placing an order, and all residents will require new in-home equipment that is compatible with the faster NBN service.
