Dear Editor,

I was thrilled to learn that a partnership between the SA Ambulance Service, the State Government and Federal Government could be formed to continue funding for community paramedics in Robe.

Strong lobbying by myself and State Member for Mackillop Nick McBride has resulting in the service being extended until the end of 2019.

Under the agreement, the Federal Government will provide half of the cost of running the program. This service is not one which would usually attract Federal Government funding; it was previously funded entirely by the State Government consistent with their responsibility. However, I’m pleased that I was able to get a commitment from the Federal Government so that in the short term the service will continue until more permanent funding can be found by the State Governments newly appointed Local Health Network.

This is a fantastic example of a collaborative effort by State and Federal local members working together.
