Dear Editor,

It is with great delight that I write to commend the State Liberal Government voting to legislate the 10 year ban on fracking. The people of the South East have been heard with the State Government backing Troy Bell’s Bill to legislate for a 10 year ban on fracking, which was of course the policy position I supported at the recent State election.

While we celebrate this win I reflect on how much has changed for the South East now that we have a Liberal Government on North Terrace.

For the first time in 16 years our collective voice is being heard past the tollgate.

A legislated ban on fracking, increased investment in regional road infrastructure and health services via the recently announced commitments to partner with the Federal Government to complete the Penola Bypass and extend funding for the Community Paramedic Program are all signs that our state’s decision makers are keen to work collaboratively with the Federal Government and have our region’s interests front of mind.

Congratulations to Nick McBride and Troy Bell for their efforts on behalf of our community.

It’s such a welcome relief to be working with a State Government that listens, understands and is willing to act.

Yours sincerely

Tony Pasin MP
Federal Member for Barker
