Dear Editor,

I was pleased to read in the Naracoorte Herald, (16 September 2022) that works are beginning on two new overtaking lanes on the Riddoch Highway, South of Naracoorte.

These overtaking lanes were a key road safety initiative of the Coalition and State Liberal Governments, funded on a 80:20 basis respectively, and announced as part of the $155 million South Australian Rural Roads Safety Package in the 2019-20 Federal Budget.

The project is an example of the Coalition Government’s $120 billion infrastructure pipeline rolling out across the country to get people home safer, and our high-quality products onto shelves or off to international markets more efficiently.

While the Coalition may no longer be in Government, I’m committed to ensuring Labor continues to rollout the Coalition Government’s legacy investment in our regional road network. I will also be continuing to advocate for future funding to improve our roads and strategies to increase road safety.

In the meantime, I urge road users to please be patient and take extra care around the road works on the Riddoch Highway which are due to be completed at some point in the second quarter of 2023, weather permitting.

Yours sincerely,

Tony Pasin MP
