Men’s Sheds across Barker have been invited to apply for funding as part of the newest round of the National Men’s Shed Development Programme (NSDP).

Funded by the Morrison Government, Round 21 of the NSDP will specifically prioritise applications with a strong health, wellbeing or safety emphasis, in acknowledgement of the impact of COVID-19 and the needs of Sheds in the recovery period and beyond.

Additionally, in light of COVID-19, IT equipment and training will be prioritised to facilitate increased connectivity amongst shedders.

Member for Barker Tony Pasin encouraged all Sheds in Barker to apply.

“Now more than ever, Sheds offer men a critical avenue for social support and engagement,” he said.

“To stay healthy, we all need to do regular activities with the people around us, and our local Men’s Sheds has become a focal point for the Barker community.

“This funding can help our Sheds deliver programs with a strong health, wellbeing or safety focus and I urge all local Sheds to apply.”

Men’s Sheds can apply for financial support across the following funding categories:

  • Category 1: Health, Wellbeing, and Events $8,000 maximum
  • Category 2: Shed Improvements $8,000 maximum
  • Category 3: Equipment $5,000 maximum

Since 2013, the Government has provided $5.4 million to support men’s sheds across Australia.

Applications for the current funding round close Friday 27 November.
