Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin has been publicly advocating for a continuation of the Federal Governments Mobile Blackspot program past the first three rounds.

“I’ve been actively lobbying both the State Liberal Party and my Government colleagues in Canberra for further funding to improve mobile phone coverage,” Mr Pasin said.

“Within Federal Government the Coalition knows we need to give regional Australia the best communications network that we can, that is why the Coalition Government has invested $220 million to the Mobile Black Spot Program. But I understand that there is still much to be done in this space.

“We recognise the vital importance of mobile phone coverage to people living, working and travelling in regional and remote parts of the country.

“Reliable and effective mobile communications is a key driver of the enormous contribution that our regions make to Australia’s economic growth.

Despite being in Government for six years, the Federal Labor did not spend a single dollar on improving mobile phone coverage.

“The State Labor Government has also failed to address this issue sufficiently,” Mr Pasin said.

“It’s wonderful that the State Liberal Party have announced their policy. I know this has been on their agenda for a long time.

“I also welcome SA-Best’s sudden interest in this important issue,” said Mr Pasin.
