Mt Pleasant Bowling Club has now strengthened its commitment to the community through a $10,000 grant delivered in Round 5 of the Stronger Communities Program.

Through the program, the club was able to renovate its existing toilet facility to now include a wheelchair accessible female toilet, greatly improving the club’s inclusivity.

Attending the unveiling of the project in conjunction with the club’s season opening event on Sunday, Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP said the Stronger Communities Program supported the Coalition Government’s commitment to deliver social benefits across Australia by funding small capital projects in each of the 150 federal electorates.

“This is the perfect example of utilising the Government’s grants programs to better our region through improving community groups,” Mr Pasin said.

“By renovating the female toilets and creating wheelchair access to them, the community is strengthened by creating a club anyone can access.

“Mt Pleasant Bowling Club is just one of 18 community groups across Barker who shared in just shy of $150,000 in Round 5 of the grants program.

“I congratulate the club on its wonderful achievement and wish everyone the best of luck in the coming bowls season.”
