Superfast broadband has arrived in Naracoorte as the NBN makes services available to all homes and businesses. The final 2,900 premises in the town are now able to connect following the previous rollout to the surrounding areas of North of Naracoorte, Lucindale and Kybybolite.

This comes as NBN reached a milestone- two million connections earlier this month. The footprint will cover half the nation by mid-year.

“The Australian Government’s National Broadband Network will boost productivity and provide a platform for innovation to ensure the economic and social benefits of the internet are available to every Australian,” Mr Pasin said.

Mr Pasin said the rollout in Barker was gathering pace thanks to NBN’s simplified network construction and the company’s strong relationship with local contractors.

Under the Coalition, there are more than 4.7 million homes and businesses able to order an NBN service, and more than 2.1 million paying customers have already connected.

It typically takes a couple of weeks to connect up to the NBN after placing an order, and all residents will require a new in-home equipment that is compatible with the faster NBN service.

Under the Coalition Government’s broadband policy, NBN has shaved years off construction time which will see the NBN connect to 3 out of every 4 homes and businesses in Australia in 2018.

“High-speed broadband is the essential infrastructure of the twenty-first century, and the NBN will provide the platform to deliver a range of economic and social benefits to residents and businesses in Mount Gambier,” Mr Pasin said.
