The Naracoorte Men’s Shed has expanded their premises thanks, in part, to a Federal Government Grant of $12,500 through the Stronger Communities Program.

Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP visited the shed last week to see the new shed extension which has seen the relocation of the metal work area from the main part of the shed to the new extended area, to give them more room and increase safety.

“Men’s Sheds are so important to so many communities across the country, particularly in our regions and especially at a time when people may be feeling more isolated and separated from family while travel restriction are in place,” Mr Pasin said.

“Belonging to a social group is vitally important for emotional and mental health, now more than ever, and the local Men’s Shed is an important place for men to meet up and participate in meaningful projects.”

“The Naracoorte Men’s Shed is an important part of the Naracoorte community, helping to make the community stronger,” Mr Pasin said.

Mr Pasin said the Stronger Communities program is aimed at funding projects that deliver social and economic benefits and form part of the Coalition Government’s continuing commitment to strengthen local communities across Australia.

“Our local communities and the community clubs and groups within them are the heart of this country and the investment in local projects under the Stronger Communities Programme is about just that – strengthening communities and ensuring they have the facilities and the infrastructure to remain vibrant, great places to live into the future,” Mr Pasin said.
