Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP said he is thrilled that the Coalition Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI) was seeing much needed community infrastructure upgrades undertaken across the Tatiara district.

Mr Pasin said the LRCI program was designed by the Coalition Government to see shovels in the ground on local construction to support jobs and economic growth in local communities as the nation navigated through and recovers from the economic impacts of the pandemic.

“Partnering with the Tatiara District Council to ensure we deliver projects for local communities will not only support jobs, construction businesses and economic growth, it will also improve community infrastructure to ensure the region’s communities remain great places to live, work and raise a family into the future,” Mr Pasin said.

Mr Pasin said the Tatiara Council has now received almost $1.3 million under phase three of the program that would be spent on local community infrastructure across the Tatiara region.

The additional funding awarded under phase three follows the over $1.2 million in funding for the Tatiara under phases one and two, bringing the total funding for the region under the program to over $2.5 million.

“In the early phases of the program we focussed on our roads and transport assets, whereas in this phase more community projects will be implemented,” Anne Champness, Tatiara District Council CEO said.

“It has been really exciting to see so many projects important to our community go ahead. Most would have been out of reach for the community groups without the LRCI program but will now help secure their future long-term.”
