PASIN RAISES A TOAST TO THE PEOPLE AND SPIRIT OF BARKER WITH LAUNCH OF LIMITED EDITION BEVERAGES

Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin has launched two uniquely Barker beverages, Tony Pasin's Liberal Lager and Barker Gin & Tonyc, to recognise the volunteers, community groups and local champions who keep regional communities thriving.

The limited-edition brews have been produced by Tanunda-based Rehn Bier and won't be appearing on bottle shop shelves anytime soon. Instead, they will be handed out by Mr Pasin as a small thank you to people making a difference in their communities.

Mr Pasin said the idea was born from the countless visits he makes across Barker each year.

"Wherever I go across Barker I see people rolling up their sleeves and getting on with the job of making their community a better place," Mr Pasin said.

"Whether it's coaching junior sport, running community events, volunteering at the CFS, helping out at the Men's Shed, supporting a charity or serving on a committee, there are thousands of people who give their time without expecting anything in return.

"I wanted a fun way to say thank you."

Mr Pasin said while the names might attract a smile, the purpose behind them was serious.

"While the names of these drinks might be tongue-in-cheek, the sentiment behind them is genuine. They're about recognising good people doing good things.

"Over the coming months, I'll be presenting Liberal Lager and Barker Gin & Tonyc from time to time as a small token of appreciation to individuals and groups making a positive contribution to their communities."

The labels combine a light-hearted take on my role as the local Federal Member with imagery from across Barker, while the accompanying message reflects the people and community spirit that define the electorate.

Mr Pasin said the initiative was about celebrating the community spirit that exists right across Barker.

"Some of the most important contributions to our communities are made quietly and without fuss by people who simply get on with the job," he said.

"They do it because they care about their local community and want to see it thrive.

"This is simply a small way of recognising that contribution and saying thank you.”

"And if that recognition comes with a Liberal Lager or a Barker Gin & Tonyc, all the better."

The beverages will be shared responsibly with adult recipients as a small token of appreciation for their contribution to the community
