Member for Barker Tony Pasin has encouraged students across Barker to apply for a Government funded scholarship to study a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) course.

Mr Pasin said applications were now open for the $24 million Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships program.

“Scholarships of up to $18,000 are available to help students in Barker with the costs of studying STEM at university or a vocational education and training institution,” Mr Pasin said.

“One of these scholarships could help a promising Barker student realise their potential and get a STEM education that will open a world of future possibilities.

“I encourage every student in Barker who wants to study STEM to apply for the program.

“More than 1,200 rural, regional and remote students will receive support through the program.”

The scholarships may also include internships to help students develop their professional experience and ensure they’re job-ready.

Applications close on Friday 14 December 2018.
