The Federal Government has approved funding of $3,335,941 towards District Council of Loxton Waikerie projects as part of the $1.5 billion Local Road and Community Infrastructure Program, which is supporting local jobs, businesses and boosting the economy.

Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin said getting shovels in the ground on local construction projects is important for maintaining jobs and economic growth in Barker, particularly as we deal with the economic crisis created by the coronavirus.

“I am pleased that the Federal Government has under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program provided funding for the District Council of Loxton Waikerie to deliver these projects for communities across the Council area.” Mr Pasin said.

“Every single project we support makes a huge difference to our local community, that is why we have moved quickly to approve this stimulus funding.” Mr Pasin said.

“Partnering with the District Council of Loxton Waikerie to ensure we deliver these projects for local communities, will not only support jobs, construction businesses and economic growth across Barker, it will also improve road safety and bolster the resilience of our local road networks, helping Australians get home sooner and safer.” Mr Pasin said.

“I’m looking forward to receiving the Council’s list of phase 3 projects noting that the Federal Government has provided a further $1,651,230 to the District Council of Loxton Waikerie for additional economic stimulus under that phase.“ Mr Pasin said.

Under Phase 2 District Council of Loxton Waikerie allocated $825,615 to complete upgrades to Taplan Road. Taplan Road has recently had seventeen kilometres prepared and bitumen laid for the convenience and safety of road users.

Mayor Leon Stasinowsky said, “This project has been fifty years in the making, with half funded by Council and half by Federal Government, under the Heavy Vehicle Safety Productivity Program (HVSPP). A special thank you goes to Mr Tony Pasin, MP, of whom this project could not have been completed without.”
