Tony Pasin appointed Shadow Minister for Scrutiny of Government Waste and Accountability and Shadow Minister Assisting for Fisheries and Forestry

The Federal Member for Barker, Tony Pasin MP, has today been appointed the Shadow Minister for Scrutiny of Government Waste and Accountability and Shadow Minister Assisting for Fisheries and Forestry.

“I am humbled to be given the opportunity to serve as the Shadow Minister for Scrutiny of Government Waste and Accountability and Shadow Minister Assisting for Fisheries and Forestry, and working hard to hold this wasteful and opaque Government to account.”

“I am particularly looking forward to working in this role closely with Hon. Tim Wilson, Shadow Treasurer, as well as the broader economic team of Senator the Hon. Jane Hume, Shadow Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations, Productivity and Deregulation and Senator Claire Chandler, Shadow Minister for Finance, Government Services, and the Public Service.”

“This portfolio has a clear purpose. It is about scrutiny across every area of government, ensuring transparency, challenging wasteful spending and restoring discipline to public administration.”

“At a time when Australians are experiencing an ongoing cost-of-living crisis, and Australians are being forced to tighten their belts there is no reason why Government is not doing the same. I will take every opportunity to highlight wasteful spending that is putting unnecessary upward pressure on interest rates.”

“I am also honoured to assist in the Forestry and Fisheries Portfolios, these industries are vital to the prosperity of regional Australia and our national economy.”

“Having grown up in the timber town of Mount Gambier and with a vibrant fishing industry along my electorate’s coast I am perfectly placed to assist our team to develop policies that will unlock opportunities for these important sectors.”

“I look forward to working alongside my colleagues in the Shadow Executive to restore Australians’ standard of living and protecting our way of life. Because Australia is worth fighting for.”
