Local winners of the annual Barker Shield have been presented with the award personally from Member for Barker, Mr Tony Pasin.

The Barker Shield is an annual award given to three students in each participating school. It celebrates student excellence in three categories: academic achievement; community service and spirit; and a category determined by the participating school.

Tintinara Area School students, Jessie Seidel, Trinity Manning and CJ Borchardt were awarded Barker Shields for Academic Achievement, Community Service and Spirit and Creative Expression respectively at the schools presentation ceremony this week.

“As Federal Member for Barker, it is a great privilege to be able to recognise the valuable contribution of the students that achieve at very high levels,” Mr Pasin said.

“I wish to congratulate each of the students who received the Barker Shield award. They are incredibly worthy recipients who have made positive contributions to their school community. This positive contribution will be permanently honoured through the perpetual Barker Shield, which will be displayed in a prominent location at each school.”

“I extend my congratulations to all of the students at Tintinara Area School for their contributions, both at the school and the wider Barker community, during 2018.”
