Tiana Olle and Tony Pasin MP
The Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin met with and congratulated Tiana Olle of Mount Gambier on her selection for the National Indigenous Youth Parliament 2017 in Canberra.
“Tiana and her family should feel very proud of her selection from an outstanding field of over 300 applicants from across Australia,” Mr Pasin said.
“This recognises Tiana’s leadership potential and I commend her for taking the initiative. This experience will give her the opportunity to develop her skills and know-how and continue to make a contribution to community.”
Tiana is the first Indigenous vice-captain at Mount Gambier High School and is completing Year 12. As part of her studies she is undertaking a two year traineeship with the ANZ Bank and a Certificate III in Financial Services, juggling these with a full load of school subjects.
She has represented her school at many Indigenous regional projects and is a member of the Blue Lake Partnership of School Reconciliation Action Plan, a community advisory body.
Tiana is an exceptional member of our community and I look forward to following her journey. I have no doubt she will go on to do great things. I am so proud to see Mount Gambier producing such mature and ambitious young ambassadors who are contributing so positively to our society.
The NIYP is a week-long leadership program for 50 Indigenous Australians aged between 16 and 25 held in Canberra.
