The Morrison Government continues to support the health and wellbeing of men in the Murraylands.

The Mannum Community Men’s Shed receiving $3,529 in funding through the National Shed Development Programme. The funding, through round 19, will specifically be used for fire extinguishers, safety signage, circular saw, impact wrench, wood burning kit, compound slide saw and a welder.

The Mount Pleasant Men’s Shed receiving $3,060. The funding  will specifically be used for community health and wellbeing activities, gazebo shelter and catering.

The Penola Men’s Shed receiving $5,900 in funding and will specifically be used for a kitchen upgrade.

The Barmera Community Men’s Shed receiving $1,265 and the funding will specifically be used for first aid and test and tag training.

Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Health, Greg Hunt, saying the funding would assist an integral part of the Barker community.

“I’m pleased the Mannum Community Men’s Shed will now be able to boost their shed’s resources with this funding,” Mr Pasin said.

“Belonging to a social group is vitally important for emotional and mental health, and the local Men’s Shed is an important place for men to meet up and participate in meaningful projects.

“To stay healthy, we need to do regular activities and stay connected with the people around us and this is why the local Men’s Shed has become an important part of the Mannum community.”

“Men are known to bottle things up and Mannum Community Men’s Shed is encouraging men to reach out for the support they need for better health and wellbeing. It’s great for them but also their families and the wider community,” Mr Pasin said.

Since 2013, the Government has provided $4.92 million through the National Shed Development Programme to support Men’s Sheds across Australia.

A total of 135 men’s sheds were allocated funding under round 19.

The Morrison Government is able to provide unprecedented levels of support for men’s health because of our strong economic management.
