GRANT APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR WOMENS SPORT IN BARKER
Member for Barker, Tony Pasin MP is encouraging sporting organisations in Barker to apply for funding through the Federal Government’s ‘Play Our Own Way’ program to improve sporting facilities and equipment specifically for women and girls.
Funding is available for local governments, community organisations, the not-for-profit sector and sporting organisations to fund local solutions and improvements to female sporting facilities and equipment.
Under the facilities stream of grant funding, projects that support new and upgraded facilities, playing areas and spaces for sport and physical activity specifically for women and girls may be eligible for 100 per cent of project costs between $50,000 and $2,000,000.
Funding grants of between $50,000 and $1,000,000 are also available for developing programs and the purchase of new or upgraded equipment to increase female participation in local sport.
Tony Pasin MP said it was important that organisations in Barker were aware of the funding opportunity.
“Participation in sport is not only about the physical health benefits it is also important for social connection building strong communities. It’s vitally important that women and girls have the facilities and equipment needed to reduce barriers to participation,” Mr Pasin said.
“I hope that organisations across Barker take this opportunity to apply for the funding available,” Mr Pasin said.
“I encourage organisations applying to contact my office with any questions and I would be happy to provide a letter of support for eligible applications,” Mr Pasin said.
Expressions of interest are being invited now until the 2 pm (AEST) 29 April 2024.
