Federal, State and Local Governments have come together to deliver funding outcomes for the Limestone Coast with the proposal for an Mount Gambier recreation centre now fully funded.

Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin welcomed today’s announcement by the State Liberal Government of $10 million towards the $40 million project, with $15 million from the Federal Government’s Regional Growth Fund having already been announced last year.

“This is a great example of all levels of Government working together to deliver for local communities,” Mr Pasin said.

“It’s also a clear indication that to Liberal Governments, regions matter. Over the past 10 months we’ve seen a vastly different approach to the regions from our State Government and today’s announcement is one such example.”

“There is no doubt that Liberal Governments at a State and Federal level are working together to deliver for regional communities, because we know that by investing in regional communities with projects like this we are helping deliver social and economic benefits that will keep our regional communities great places to live and work into the future,” Mr Pasin said.

“Strong economic management means Governments can invest record funding into infrastructure, health and education without having to increase taxes. If we weren’t in the economic position we are thanks to Liberal Governments plan to grow the economy, funding in this project may not have been possible,” Mr Pasin said.
