PASIN WELCOMES SUNRISE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL TO CANBERRA

Year 7 students from Sunrise Christian School Naracoorte visited Federal Parliament last week to see get a first-hand look at the action of the Federal Government.

Despite the action of the week, Member for Barker, Tony Pasin was on hand to discuss his role in the Federal Parliament and, his own experience visiting Parliament as a young year 7 student from Mount Gambier.

“I was particularly pleased to recount to these students the story of my own school trip to Canberra and Parliament House in 1989 highlighting that they too could one day be given the great privilege of representing Barker in the Federal Parliament,” said Mr Pasin.

Mr Pasin escorted students and teachers onto the roof of the building not only to show them the spectacular views of the nation’s capital but to highlight the symbolism associated with Parliament House being built into the hill rather than on top of it.

“It’s quite regularly the highlight of my day in Parliament when I get to speak to local students and answer some, often tough, questions about the history and processes of our Federal Parliament. I was impressed by the enthusiasm the students from Sunrise showed and I commend Sunrise Christian School and the teaching staff for taking advantage of the opportunity to show the leaders of tomorrow our national institution,” said Mr Pasin.
