Member for Barker Tony Pasin has welcomed a $5 million funding injection into Marrabel Road thanks to the former Coalition Government’s $650 million investment into the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity (HVSP) Program.

The program funds infrastructure projects that improve the productivity and increase safety outcomes for heavy vehicle operators across Australia.

The former Coalition Government invested more than $650 million over 10 years through the HVSP Program from 2013-14 to 2025-26.

Member for Barker and Shadow Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Tony Pasin MP said the HVSP Program formed an important part of the Coalition’s $120 billion infrastructure investment pipeline and he was pleased to see local projects being funded through the program.

“I inspected Marrabel Road earlier this year and it was very clear to me that it was in need of investment. As it is a State road, I immediately wrote to State Infrastructure Minister Tom Koutsantonis about its condition and I’m pleased that the State Government applied for and have now been successful, in attracting funding from the Federal Government’s Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program,” Mr Pasin said.

The South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport will receive $5 million from the Federal Government program to upgrade Marrabel Road culvert and the intersection at Curio Road.

“This $5 million investment into the Curio Road junction to provide turning lanes suitable for 26 metre b-double movements as well as replacing the culvert over Light River is an investment in our region and our agricultural supply chain,” Mr Pasin said.

“It’s all part of the Coalition Government’s $120 billion infrastructure investment pipeline, and I’m thrilled that my advocacy to the State Government about Marrabel Road has resulted in action being taken on this important section of our road network,” Mr Pasin said.
