As the chair of the Federal Parliaments Friends of Forestry and Forest Products I congratulate Timberlink on the decision to build a new timber processing facility in Tarpeena in the Limestone Coast. This facility will be the first softwood, cross laminated and glue laminated timber manufacturing facility in Australia.

The decision to build this facility at Tarpeena creating 50 jobs at completion is a fantastic outcome for the Limestone Coast. I acknowledge the excellent work of the Member for Mackillop Nick McBride, whose advocacy secured a $2 million Grant towards the construction of this facility via the State Government’s Regional Growth Fund.

Now more than ever we know the importance of local processing to secure our domestic supply chains. I look forward to the realisation of this project at Tarpeena which is a win for South Australia against tough interstate competition from the Victorians. Congratulations again to all involved.
