2026 BARKER'S BEST PHOTO COMPETITION NOW OPEN

Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP is again inviting photographers of all ages and abilities to showcase the people, places and stories that make regional communities thrive through the 2026 Barker's Best Photo Competition.

This year's theme, "Barker's Local Business Heroes – People and Places", celebrates the local businesses and the hardworking owners and employees who form the backbone of communities across Barker.

Mr Pasin said local businesses play a vital role in the economic and social life of the region and deserved to be recognised.

"Across Barker, local businesses do much more than provide goods and services. They create jobs, support community groups, sponsor local events and help give our towns their unique character," Mr Pasin said.

"Whether it's the familiar face behind the counter, the skilled tradesperson in the workshop, the family running a business across generations, or an iconic local storefront that has become part of the community's identity, these are the stories worth celebrating."

Mr Pasin said photography offered a unique way to capture the people and places that often become the heart of regional communities.

"I encourage people to get out with their camera and tell the stories of the businesses that help make Barker such a great place to live, work and raise a family," Mr Pasin said.

"Every town has local business heroes who quietly go about serving their community each day. This competition is an opportunity to recognise them and showcase the important contribution they make to Barker."
