Dear Editor,
I write to congratulate Julie and the team at Calperum for yet another fantastic Woolshed Bush Ball held on Friday night.
The Riverland is often referred to as the ‘Food Bowl’ of South Australia, and rightly so owing to the high-quality food and fibre grown along the banks of the river here for generations.
The work being done at Calperum however, shows that the Riverland is much more than a food and fibre hub and should be celebrated for the diversification the station adds to the region’s offering.
Calperum is a jewel of the Riverland, creating important employment and training opportunities, environmental education and ecological preservation.
With the right support the possibility for increasing this positive contribution is immense.
Riverland communities face many challenges, but it’s important that we acknowledge the proud history and exciting opportunities that lies ahead.
My vision is for a thriving and diverse Riverland where we continue the proud tradition of producing high quality food and fibre, we welcome visitors with open arms to our river banks and we protect and preserve the unique ecology of the region.
Calperum plays a vital role in a diverse and sustainable Riverland and I’ll continue to throw my support wholeheartedly behind the Calperum Connect project to see its full potential realised.
To the team at Calperum, thank you for yet another fantastic Bush Ball and well done on your continued fundraising efforts. Most importantly, thank you for the economic, social, and ecological contribution you make to the Riverland region.
