Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has awarded the ‘Drive My Future’ program a Federal Government Volunteer Grant worth $2,500 towards fuel costs, volunteer training and uniforms.
Youth Barossa runs the Drive My Future program helping L-Plate drivers accrue their required driving hours who may not have access to a vehicle or don't have access to a supervising driver.
The organisation is run by a dedicated group of local volunteers who provide a life changing opportunity to gain a driver’s licence.
Regional communities don’t have the same level of public transport available and to access the healthcare and education opportunities that may be some distance away. For regional residents a driver’s licence is essential but obtaining one can be tricky if you don’t have access to a car or a supervising driver.
Youth Barossa and their dedicated team of volunteers offer an important service to those facing these barriers.
This grant, together with similar grants help to make volunteering easier for thousands of volunteers who selflessly give of their time to help others.
I am proud to deliver volunteer grants to organisations including the Youth Barossa to support the crucial role that the organisation and its volunteers play within the community.
