FUNDING AVAILABLE TO GROW STRONGER COMMUNITIES

Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP is encouraging non-for-profit organizations and local government organisations in Barker to apply for grants through the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program.

Grants of between $2,500 to $20,000 are available for small infrastructure projects encouraging and supporting participation in local initiatives, enhancing community engagement and contributing to the creation of vibrant and sustainable communities.

Mr Pasin strongly encouraged potential applicants to read the Program Guidelines carefully, as the Albanese Labor Government had made significant changes to the listed objectives and eligibility criteria that would restrict some projects from eligibility.

“The Stronger Communities program is an initiative of the former Coalition Government and since 2015 has provided thousands of organisations across the country with funding for projects that deliver social benefits for local communities,” Mr Pasin said.

“Organisations in Barker have been benefited greatly from previous rounds of Stronger Communities Program delivered under the Former Coalition Government. From Sunset Community Kitchen, Cadell Pistol Club, Loxcare and Imperial Netball Club in Murray Bridge more than 100 organisations across Barker have shared in $1.2 million in Rounds 1 through 8 of the Stronger Communities program,” Mr Pasin said.

“While it’s disappointing that the Albanese Labor Government has amended the program to restrict eligibility, I’m nevertheless looking forward to seeing communities in Barker finally see some Federal funding being made available for small projects after more than two years of Labor’s regional funding drought,” Mr Pasin said.

Expressions of Interest for Round 9 of the Stronger Communities program close 5pm, Thursday 13 February 2025.
