Dear Editor,
I recently joined Tailem Bend community members at the RSL for dinner.
More than just a great meal, I was able to witness and be part of the camaraderie and sense of community that fills the building on a Friday night once a month.
The Returned Service League has been an important Australian institution since its establishment more than a century ago and local RSL branches have become an integral part of communities right across our great country.
Just like the local footy club, the CWA or the Men’s Shed, RSLs have become an important community organisation that contribute to not only to the local community but to the fabric of Australian society and the wellbeing of our nation.
Tailem Bend is no exception.
I was also blown away by the volunteer effort being made to improve the facility both inside and out to ensure the building is fit for purpose and welcoming for all. The work being undertaken to modernise this facility is to the great credit to the dedicated band of RSL members and volunteers and I congratulate them on their achievements to date.
I strive to support organisations such as this because I know that they help to build strong communities and in turn play an important role in the strengthening our nation.
If your readers haven’t visited the RSL for a meal lately, I encourage you to do so. I can promise you will leave with a full belly, a warm heart and an extra friend or two.
Sincerely,
Tony Pasin MP
