Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has awarded the Coorong CFS based in Meningie a Federal Government Volunteer Grant worth $2,700 to purchase a Thermal Imaging Camera.
Mr Pasin said the addition of a Thermal Imaging Camera for the rural response truck would directly assists volunteer crew members to safely identify hot spots when dealing with fire and mop up whilst also being useful in the event of search and rescue.
The Country Fire Service was established in 1976 and now has well over 10,500 volunteer firefighters across South Australia.
“In many ways our CFS volunteers are the epitome of the Aussie volunteer. Their dedication and hard work in often dangerous, life-threatening conditions, leaving their own families, homes and sometimes communities to help others is second to none.”
Mr Pasin said that this grant, together with similar grants help to make volunteering easier for thousands of volunteers who selflessly give of their time to help others.
“I am proud to deliver volunteer grants to organisations including the Meningie CFS to support the crucial role that the organisation and its volunteers play within the Coorong community,” Mr Pasin said.
