Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has welcomed funding announced to build a brand-new Gymnasium in Murray Bridge thanks to the Murraylands Gymnastics Academy.

The project will see the new facility cater for formal gymnastics programs, kindy gymnastics, fitter for life (over 60 program), Special Olympics as well as new initiatives such as ninja, circus and trampolining.

Mr Pasin said the Federal Government grant that will enable the $1.5 million project progress is fantastic news for the Murraylands community.

“I’m passionate about working with the community to help deliver local infrastructure, particularly sporting facilities because of the vitally important role grassroots sport plays in regional communities,” Mr Pasin said.

“I threw my full support behind local Play Our Way applications in Barker because it is imperative that facilities are functional and fit for purpose, particularly for projects that reduce barriers to participation in sport for women and girls.”

“For too long, too many female club members have had to contend with sub-standard infrastructure and facilities, particularly in the regions. We desperately need to address this inequality because strong and inclusive grassroots sporting clubs help strengthen regional communities.”

“I’m looking forward to funding being received to get work on the project underway as quickly as possible,” Mr Pasin said.
