Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has paid a welcome visit to volunteer organisations in Naracoorte and Lucindale this month to award Federal Government Volunteer Grants.

The Lucindale Community Economic Development Board has been awarded $2,250 to support lifeguard training for volunteer lifeguards at the swimming pool located at the Lucindale Area School.

“Local community lifeguards volunteer their time to enable community use of the local pool and this small grant will help cover the cost of the training to support these volunteers and hopefully attract additional volunteer lifeguards to spread the workload,” Mr Pasin said.

Mr Pasin also met with Naracoorte Racing Club to congratulate members on a small funding windfall of $4,594 to provide training for volunteer committee members.

“It’s fantastic to be able to support these organisations with small grants as a way to say thanks for their contribution.

“The positive impact that volunteering has in communities like Naracoorte and Lucindale is undisputed, so it is an honour to recommend and assist organisations in receiving Federal Government Volunteer Grants,” Mr Pasin said.

Mr Pasin said that these grants, together with similar grants across Barker help to make volunteering easier for thousands of volunteers who selflessly give of their time to help others.

“Volunteering is at the heart of regional communities like those in Barker and I am proud to deliver small grants to volunteer organisations to support the crucial role that they play to ensure local communities like Naracoorte and Lucindale remain great places to live, work and raise a family,” Mr Pasin said.
