NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR BARKER VOLUNTEER AWARDS

Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP is calling on the community to nominate outstanding local volunteers for recognition through the Barker Volunteer Awards, to be presented during National Volunteer Week in May.

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering, recognising the important role volunteers play in supporting communities across the country. This year it will be held from 18 to 24 May.

Mr Pasin said the awards provide an opportunity to recognise the many volunteers who quietly serve their communities. “As I spend time in communities across Barker, I am regularly reminded of the immense contribution volunteers make,” Mr Pasin said.

“From service groups and sporting clubs, to CFS units, Men’s Sheds, churches, schools and everything in between, it is the unpaid work of volunteers that keeps these organisations running and serving the wider community.”

“Volunteers are the heart of communities across Barker, and they deserve recognition for the time, skills and passion they bring to making our region a great place to live, work and raise a family.”

“The Barker Volunteer Awards are a small way to acknowledge and thank those who go above and beyond in service of others,” he said.

Mr Pasin encouraged community members to nominate an outstanding volunteer.

Nominations are open and close Friday 8th May.
