PARRAKIE WAR MEMORIAL HALL RECEIVES SALUTING THEIR SERVICE GRANT
Federal Member for Barker, Tony Pasin MP, visited Parrakie War Memorial Hall on Sunday to acknowledge the local community’s success in securing a $7070 grant through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Saluting Their Service (STS) Commemorative Grants Program.
This grant has enabled the installation of a flagpole and memorial plaque at the historic hall, ensuring it can proudly display the Australian flag in honour of the region’s service personnel.
Mr. Pasin also presented Parrakie War Memorial Hall President Stephen Pfeiffer with a new Australian flag further recognising the importance of national symbols in our community.
“The Australian flag is a powerful symbol of our nation’s unity and shared values. By installing a new flagpole at the Parrakie War Memorial Hall, we ensure that this symbol continues to fly high for all to see,” Mr. Pasin said.
The Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program aims to preserve Australia’s military history by commemorating the service and sacrifice of Australian service personnel. Parrakie War Memorial Hall is now part of this legacy, continuing to honour those who have served, and their families.
“Recognising the sacrifices made by our service men and women and maintaining the symbols of our nation's heritage is so important for preserving our history and passing it on to future generations,” Mr. Pasin added.
The Parrakie community can now look forward to proudly flying their new flag ensuring both the past and present are honoured in this important community space.
