PASIN CALLS ON TELSTRA TO LISTEN
Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP says more than six months since the 3G switch off and the newly created mobile blackspots in Barker are still yet to be addressed.
Mr Pasin said suggestions made in the media this week that a predominant mobile network operator has been overstating their mobile coverage comes as no surprise.
“Since 3G was switched off in October last year my office has been inundated with reports of diminished service in areas of Barker. Poor mobile service is one of the main enquiries to my office and I have been reporting these locations to mobile network operators for months to no avail,” Mr Pasin said.
“In fact, in a response to one of my letters to Telstra CEO Vicki Brady, I was told that, “Our network key performance indicators confirm that there are no inequivalence issues or significant reduction in customer experience within Barker following the 3G closure.”
“The over 2,500 constituents in Barker who have reported exactly that cant all be wrong.”
“The telco’s cant gaslight their way out of this, and the Albanese Labor Government who have overseen this switch off should be doing more to stand up for our Australian consumers instead of allowing the big corporates to put profits first,” Mr Pasin said.
Mr Pasin said that as a result of his continued advocacy Telstra had agreed to undertake a regional visit to Barker to conduct a series of community visits and meet with customers.
To date, Telstra has scheduled ‘drop-in’ sessions in Keith, Penola and Cape Jaffa in the Limestone Coast at the beginning of June.
Mr Pasin encouraged Telstra customers experiencing coverage issues to take this opportunity to raise concerns directly with network operator.
